What a lovely, gloomy, dirty, tasty morning at Vicki and Peter's farm (and with Betty in tow)! After coming home with dirt still under my fingernails, I contemplated the transformation of matter as I made a soup with a butternut squash from my own garden, was reminded of 'wildcrafting' as I pulled some wild onions out of my backyard to season the soup, and celebrated the sacredness of the marigold that I pulled out of the compost pile. Many thanks to Vicki and Peter for their generosity and good spirit.
btw---the first two pics are BETTY'S garden in its fall 'resting' state.
